We went to Chile to ski! This was my 1st trip to South America, unless you count being on both sides of the Panama Canal. The main reason for the trip was skiing but we squeezed in some sight seeing in Santiago.
We went to the Cathedral and orginal square.
We also had time to tour the Concha y Toro Winery, where we picked up some bottles and Pisco!
For the main event we went to Portillo for the week. The resort itself is an all-inclusive that includes 4 meals a day and all the skiing you can handle. In order to ski there you have be staying on-site, that means there are no lift lines and the powder is all yours! They do some strategic lift openings after a storm to maximize your powder days.
Here is our little group at Tio Bob’s overlooking the lake.
The video is long but this is our group going through the Gargantita Couloir. I had a big nasty wreck in here earlier in the week. This time was a lot better with powder at the bottom. I am in the orange jacket.
Potillo was totally worth it! I know I will be going back, it turns out Summer skiing is worth the flight.
